When looking at the tags associated with the mashups that are submitted to our directory; the most popular ones have always been mapping, social and search. In recent months that trend has continued and today we look at a mashup type that is nearly as popular but doesn’t seem to get as much coverage; the video mashup. These recent Mashup of the Day selections all incorporate video, specifically the YouTube API.
This past week 14 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 23 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include 8coupons, AddThis Analytics , Education.com, iFixit, KooKoo, Sears and Wordstream Keyword Tool. The most often used APIs this week are 8coupons, Google Maps and Twilio. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Shopping (5 APIs, 6 mashups), Mapping (3 APIs, 5 mashups) and Telephony (2 APIs, 4 mashups). The list below shows which APIs were used by which mashups:

There’s a lot of fuss over the RIAA and the Internet. It seems like it’s been a never-ending battle to make music play nice with the internet. Sure, we’ve got services like Rdio and Grooveshark, but what about making data open to make our listening experience better and more connected with everything else we do?
This past week the new mashups added to our mashup directory used 25 different APIs. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include BlankSlate, Google Gears, Meetup and TokBox. The most often used APIs this week are Google Maps, Twitter and YouTube. 2010 is not yet half over and already Music Hack Day is hitting its third city of the year: San Francisco. On May 15th and 16th, scores of hackers will convene at the Automatic Lounge for a 48 hour hack fest themed around all things music.
