PinterestThe ever elusive Pinterest API made news once again this week when its documentation briefly appeared on the Pinterest developer site. Here at ProgrammableWeb, the Pinterest API profile is our most viewed page showing that developers are itching for more information. While the official API hasn’t been released, we’ve still seen a number of mashups that take advantage of Pinterest’s functionality. Below we highlight a few of them.

This week we had 98 new APIs added to our API directory including an online dictionary, enterprise collaboration and social networking service, White House petition data, campaign management service, and standardized open data resource. This week we had 111 new APIs added to our API directory including a form builder service, mobile application management platform, api pipelining service, in-store retail optimization service and cloud storage architecture service. We also covered a cutting edge motion controller and an API for server and website monitoring. Below are more details on each of these new APIs.

9 APIs Used in 7 Days: Facebook, foursquare, and Twitter

This past week 7 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 9 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include ConstantContact, Edmunds.com Vehicle and Sqoot. The most often used APIs this week are Edmunds.com Vehicle, foursquare and Twitter. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Social (5 APIs, 6 mashups), Email (2 APIs, 2 mashups) and Shopping (1 APIs, 1 mashups).
