MessageMe Succeeds Despite Blatant Facebook Snub

FacebookAs Facebook is one of the major players and MessageMe is a new kid on the block, you would expect that the latter would be intimidated, if not crushed, by any direct attack from the social giant. In this case, it doesn’t seem to be so. Despite Facebook recently cutting off MessageMe’s access to the Facebook Friend Graph, the newcomer has since grown in popularity and managed to raise $1.9 million.


9 APIs Used in 7 Days: Facebook, foursquare, and Twitter

This past week 7 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 9 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include ConstantContact, Edmunds.com Vehicle and Sqoot. The most often used APIs this week are Edmunds.com Vehicle, foursquare and Twitter. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Social (5 APIs, 6 mashups), Email (2 APIs, 2 mashups) and Shopping (1 APIs, 1 mashups).

Doodle Republic ChatoonMessaging just got a lot more interesting to look at. Words say a lot, but a picture is worth a thousand of them; imagine the levels of communication that could be achieved using both. Doodle Republic is a messaging platform that provides the tools to create messages that include words and images. Basically, people chat by creating their own art and sending it to friends as a Chatoon. The Doodle Republic Chatoon API makes this functionality available to developers who may want to include it in other applications.

25 APIs Used in 7 Days: Amazon S3, Facebook Graph and Zazzle

This past week 9 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 25 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include Earth911 Search, HP Cloud Object Storage, HP Imaging Cloud Photo Suite, LaunchBit, Mailgun, Ookaboo and Recognize.im. The most often used APIs this week are Facebook, Facebook Graph and Google Maps. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Social (4 APIs, 6 mashups), Photos (3 APIs, 3 mashups) and Music (3 APIs, 3 mashups). The list below shows which APIs were used by which mashups:
