This past week 10 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 18 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include 3dCart, BigCommerce, BuzzData, Embedly, Pinnacle Cart and Shopify. The most often used APIs this week are Facebook, Netflix and Twitter. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Shopping (5 APIs, 5 mashups), Social (3 APIs, 5 mashups) and Database (3 APIs, 3 mashups). The list below shows which APIs were used by which mashups:
This week we’re spotlighting the Twitter API, one of our most consistently popular APIs. Twitter is the second most used API in our directory appearing in over 700 mashups. Each of the mashups below leverage Twitter and have been named mashup of the day since May.
This past week 11 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 30 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include Aviary Web, CartoDB, Google Street View Image, Magento and Webcams.travel. The most often used APIs this week are Bing Maps, Facebook and Freebase. Our API directory now includes 123 database APIs. The newest is the BigTable API. The most popular, in terms of mashups, is the GeoNames API. We list 81 GeoNames mashups. Below you’ll find some more stats from the directory, including the entire list of database APIs.
This week we had 69 new APIs added to our API directory including a TV schedule data service, social media monitoring service, Bing webmaster data service, street view image service, legal practice management service and a movie discovery and search service. Below are more details on each of these new APIs.
Google quickly ushered its Google Plus Hangouts API out of preview mode, meaning apps built on the service can now be launched. Facebook also made changes to its API, bringing location to photo and status objects. Plus: redefining TV Guide via API, an OpenSocial platform and 17 new APIs.
Recently we have seen some imaginative mashups centered on books. From mapping story locations, building communities around book genres and even discovering the most obscure connections between details in your favorite stories, these mashups are nothing short of creative. In addition we’ve rounded up a couple of standard book search and recommendation applications. Some of the popular APIs used include Google Maps and Amazon.

As the year comes to a close and holiday season looms, many of us look forward to taking a few days off to take a break from all of our hard work and relax. You’re in luck as we’ve gotten many great mashups this year that let you watch movies and trailers, browse your Netflix queue (you do still subscribe to Netflix right?) and share with your friends.
