17 APIs Used in 7 Days: Eventbrite, Facebook Graph, Gowalla

This past week 10 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 17 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include Biblia.com, LinkUp Job Search Engine and Localmind. The most often used APIs this week are Biblia.com, Facebook and foursquare. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Social (6 APIs, 13 mashups), Job Search (4 APIs, 4 mashups) and Events (3 APIs, 3 mashups). The list below shows which APIs were used by which mashups:


45 New APIs: MongoDB, Podcast Retrieval, Skyscanner

This week we had 45 new APIs added to our API directory including a hosted MongoDB database, live chat platform, fact sharing service, podcast retrieval service, distributed graph database, and a flight and travel search engine. In addition, we covered the launch of the Pearson Plug & Play Platform. Below are more details on each of these new APIs.

Making Mobile Apps? Not With These APIs

Best New Mashups: Social Graphing, Realtime Emotions and a Virtual Assistant

The mashups included below all clarify mountains of information. Using APIs, they gather the data and show it to the user in a way that makes sense. In one case, it’s a bar chart of emotions expressed over Twitter and other realtime search engines. Another takes your LinkedIn connections and displays them graphically. The other brings a handful of APIs to your iPhone, responding to your voice.
