According to a BBC news story, SpeakLike “crowd sources work to its pool of 3,000 translators, They can translate your blog into 35 languages and, incredibly, can even do tweets and live chats.” Plus, they have the SpeakLike API.

This past week 19 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 30 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include Clicky, CloudMine, Ergast, Idescat, Library of Congress Prints & Photographs, PubNub JavaScript Push, SHOUTcast Radio and Teambox. The most often used APIs this week are DonorsChoose, Google Maps and LinkedIn. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Music (6 APIs, 6 mashups), Social (3 APIs, 3 mashups) and Internet (3 APIs, 3 mashups). The list below shows which APIs were used by which mashups:

2011 was another great year for mashups. At ProgrammableWeb we saw over 900 new mashups added to our directory. Popular app categories such as mapping, search and shopping continued to lead the way. This year however saw social apps continue their rapid growth from the last couple of years. As 2011 comes to a close, we take a look back at some of the best and most popular mashups that were submitted.
This past week 26 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 33 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include Framey, I Heart Quotes, iFixit, Shopify, Thrutu, Travel Booking Engine, Travelport and WordPress.com. The most often used APIs this week are Twilio, Twilio SMS and Twitter. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Social (8 APIs, 18 mashups), Messaging (3 APIs, 9 mashups) and Photos (2 APIs, 3 mashups). The list below shows which APIs were used by which mashups:
Although many of us currently use online services for our weather reports, some still like to watch the television for their weather news. The Weather Channel is the main go-to channel for weather, offering weather reports whenever you’re in need of them. It recently started to integrate Twitter into the televised reports, searching Twitter for locals talking about the weather. It also has a special site where you can find weather-related tweets for your own city.
There have been a lot of new socially based mashups showing up recently. In fact, we recently topped 700 social mashups. While many of these use the Facebook API or Twitter API, there are many more social APIs. The mashups below run the gamut, though, yes, also include Facebook.
