Andrés Ferrate

Andrés is the founder of Cartosoft, a technology startup focused on expanding the reach of geospatial technology to a broader audience through the Internet. Andrés became interested in APIs and mashups after working extensively with map mashups that help organizations address a diverse set of challenges by leveraging emerging web technologies. Prior to founding Cartosoft, Andrés was Vice President of Operations for Geographic Technologies Group, a leading provider of geospatial services and software for local governments. Andrés has worked in the public, private, and non-profit sectors, including experience working for various startups, metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs), The World Bank, and as a volunteer for various non-profits.

Michael Manoochehri

Michael Manoochehri is interested in how people use social networks, mobile devices, and web services to create and consume media. He has worked as a consultant and developer on numerous websites and social media projects, mainly for research and non-profit groups. When Michael is not reading and writing about technology, he is trying to find the time to work on getting a Master’s Degree from UC Berkeley’s School of Information.

Raymond Yee

Raymond Yee is a data architect, consultant, trainer, and author of Pro Web 2.0 Mashups: Remixing Data and Web Services (Apress, 2008). He is currently a lecturer at the School of Information, UC Berkeley, where he teaches the course “Mixing and Remixing Information”. Yee is also the Integration Advisor for the Zotero Project. While earning a Ph.D. in biophysics, he taught computer science, philosophy, and personal development to K-11 students in the Academic Talent Development Program on the Berkeley campus. As a software architect and developer, he focuses on developing software to support learning, teaching, scholarship, and research.

Raymond is an erstwhile tubaist, admirer of J. S. Bach, Presbyterian elder, aspiring essayist, son of industrious Chinese-Canadian restaurateurs, and devoted husband of the incomparable Laura.

Tina Gasperson

Tina Gasperson has been writing about technology, business, and the Web since 1999. She has written for publications including CIO, the IT Manager’s Journal, Entrepreneur Media, and many others. She was one of the original staffers at Newsforge.com, which eventually folded into Linux.com.

Kevin Farnham

Kevin Farnham is the founder of software consulting and publishing company, Lyra Technical Systems. Kevin works with O’Reilly Media, currently as Community Manager for the Threading Building Blocks open source project. Kevin was also Managing Editor for the AOL Developer Community. When not writing about technology Kevin does software engineering, specializing in mathematical modeling, simulation, and scientific data analysis.
