With so many TV shows and movies available online these days, it can be hard for viewers to find exactly what they are looking for. To make life easier for television watchers, Guidebox, a service that answers the question, “Where can I stream or purchase this?,” released a free API that lets developers integrate movie and TV episode search into websites and mobile apps.
Filmon.tv has announced a set of APIs that allow online publishers and developers to take advantage of its huge selection of content from NBC, CBS, FOX and ABC in twelve major US cities, and more.

Whether streaming live video, or sending fine-tune productions, Movideo offers fully customizable media players to third parties.
LaunchPad Recruits has an extremely simple and clear business plan, and therefore a potentially powerful one. It aims to help companies sift through job applicants faster by supplying video interviews of those applying. Employers can watch the video of them responding to questions, and look at a resume before deciding on a face to face meeting. Have you ever been hiring, only to start an interview based on a prospect’s resume and find instantly that the person is not a good match? You can end up wading through an interview, looking in vain for ways to end it early. (See graphic.) The LaunchPad Recruits REST API aims to avoid this by having candidates answer the employer’s questions on video before any face to face meeting takes place.
The internet is full of videos that teach how to use complex software, like Photoshop or Final Cut Pro. Why not use the same technique for teaching how to use an API? Younger developers, who grew up in the age of these video tutorials, find this format especially useful. These types of videos do not have to have high production costs – they simply require screen capture and voice-over.

In a bid for a larger chunk of the unified communications market, CounterPath announced an API for its Bria for Windows communications platform. The Vancouver company produces softphones, which allow users to make Internet phone calls (think Skype and Google Voice) from a computer or a mobile device. Although a relatively small player in the market, Counterpath has a respectable 10 million downloads of its client. Its client consists of X-lite, free, and Bria for commercial use. Bria offers voice and video over fixed, mobile and WiFi networks. It’s ability to automatically switch to WiFi, allows users to stay connected while saving money.
TranscribeMe and MindSwarms, two San Francisco based technology start-ups, have announced that the companies have formed a partnership to provide consumer insights through speech processing of video content and to provide searchable and shareable video consumer feedback.
