Google Partners with Cisco to Integrate Services

At the Enterprise Connect 2014 conference today Cisco announced it will be working more closely with Google to integrate conferencing services with various Google APIs. Rowan Trollope, Cisco senior vice president for collaboration, and Rajen Sheth, a product manager for Google Enterprise, took the stage to show a prototype of the Cisco Webex conferencing service running on a Chromebook. In the future, Cisco and Google will make it possible to launch WebEx directly from Google Calendar and start an instant meeting from the Google Contact Card and the Google People widget. Users will also be able to connect with others by clicking on phone numbers or extensions displayed in Gmail or Google Apps.

HP Moves Application Testing Tools into the Cloud

Hewlett-Packard is looking to make its application testing tools more accessible than ever via implementations that are hosted in the cloud. Developers can access these tools via RESTful APIs. Kelly Emo, director of product marketing for HP Software, says that by making HP LoadRunner 12 and HP Performance Center 12 available as a cloud service, HP is making a concerted effort to introduce a broader spectrum of organizations to its application testing tools.


Google Updates Play Services APIs

Google has begun distributing a new release of Google Play Services to all Android devices, and along with it made a new SDK available to developers with a handful of new APIs. The main additions include a Google Analytics API, Tag Manager, Address API, Google Drive API, and updated support for Google Play Games. Google Play Services 4.3 is being pushed to hardware already running Android 2.3 Gingerbread and up. This encompasses the bulk of smartphones and tablets in use today.
