Companies are creating plenty of content on the social web, but not much of it ends up back on their sites. A new aggregator for social media, news and others sources is trying to change that. The company behind the Yolink API created Postano, a tool set to launch today that will let anyone curate a real-time newspaper-like site using Facebook Pages and Twitter streams. The resulting content, tiled on the page with extracted visuals, is available from a standalone site for free or can be embedded for a monthly charge.
TigerLogic, the company behind the yolink API, released a WordPress plugin that allows WordPress users to get a lot more done while searching within a WordPress blog. As many WordPress users know all too well, the existing search functionality of WordPress is subpar. Yolink changes that, offering faster results, and more relevant ones.
This past week 15 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 23 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include Alchemy, Voxeo, Yahoo Music Engine, Yahoo Weather and Yolink. The most often used APIs this week are Twilio, Twilio SMS and Twitter. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Mapping (4 APIs, 5 mashups), Telephony (3 APIs, 7 mashups) and Music (2 APIs, 2 mashups). The list below shows which APIs were used by which mashups:

Life on the web is full of search terms and human filtering. Even good results often require some effort to determine which has the information we seek. There are several services attempting to help with this problem and they’re making their applications available via API.
