3scale and Kin Lane (API Evangelist) have announced that the second API Strategy and Practice Conference will take place October 23 – 25, 2013 in San Francisco, California at the Parc55 Hotel, located near Union Square. Tickets will be available in limited batches starting on June 5th.

Microsoft as expected last week announced that it would be integrating its Yammer social networking and Skype unified communications services with Microsoft Dynamics CRM software. This week Microsoft took that effort a step further via an alliance with Moxie Software under which another social networking application for the enterprise is being integrated within Microsoft Dynamics.

GraphEffect, a collaboration platform for social media marketers, announced that users will have access to its platform via the GraphEffect API. Collaboration platforms have gained greater adoption recently (e.g. Yammer, Podio, Chatter, e.g.). However, GraphEffect finds that the bulk of these platforms are designed for use within a single firm. Since its founding in 2007, Zendesk’s helpdesk system has improved customer service departments and helpdesks around the world with their Zendesk API. Over 20,000 companies (from Sears to Groupon) “trust [Zendesk] with their customers.” Currently, over 20% of tickets generated through Zendesk are come through the Zendesk API. Accordingly, the API is essential to Zendesk’s success and Zendesk constantly seeks feedback to improve its product.

The most often used APIs this week are Last.fm, Twitter and YouTube. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Social (9 APIs, 10 mashups), Bookmarks (6 APIs, 6 mashups) and Internet (5 APIs, 5 mashups).
