Our API directory now includes 270 video APIs. The newest is the WorldStream TV API. The most popular, in terms of mashups, is the YouTube API. We list 645 YouTube mashups. Below you’ll find some more stats from the directory, including the entire list of video APIs.
This past week 12 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 37 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include 43Things, Cheezburger, Cirip, GitHub, Google Gears, Klout, Netvibes, Plancast, Qwerly, SMSMyBus, Social Archive, TypePad and Vodpod. The most often used APIs this week are Facebook, Google Maps and Spotify Metadata. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Social (7 APIs, 11 mashups), Other (4 APIs, 4 mashups) and Blogging (3 APIs, 3 mashups). The list below shows which APIs were used by which mashups:
Sure, YouTube gets all the press. And YouTube gets most of the mashups. But when it comes to video APIs, there’s a lot more than just YouTube. In fact, there are 100 video APIs, from live content Ustream to micro-vlogging 12 seconds.

The world of video APIs continues its impressive surge, with 40 APIS now listed on ProgrammableWeb, up from the 30 video APIs profiled in February and more than double the 19 video APIs from last fall. And more video mashups appear every week, now with 340 video mashups listed.
