This week we had 81 new APIs added to our API directory including an online repository of medical device information, address book contacts import service, open government data database and sharing platform, online marketplace for daily deals, rating application and a project management platform. In addition we looked at an unexpected SIRI app and the effect of Usergrid’s acquisition.
Today Facebook announced 60 approved partners for its Open Graph, which allows them to add actions to the Facebook Timeline. Amazon also added a new API to its cloud offerings, a homegrown NoSQL database. That was among the 13 new APIs on a busy day in APIs.
Roll-your-own API service Usergrid has been acquired by API management company Apigee. Usergrid could potentially help Apigee reach out to mobile developers increasingly finding themselves needing APIs to interact with their apps. It’s part of a trend of developers not only being API consumers, but also API providers–at least privately to their own apps.
