Skybiometry’s cloud-based face detection API serves as a drop-in replacement for face.com’s API. This REST-based API can be used in combination with almost any programming language, making it possible to integrate with any device that has internet connectivity.
CAD tools have assisted architects and engineers in product development for decades. Despite their widespread adoption and usefulness, two aspects of CAD tools remain pretty consistent across the CAD landscape: high costs and proprietary software. Sunglass aims to alleviate both pains of traditional CAD tools through the Sunglass API. Sunglass co-founder and CEO, Kaustuv DeBiswas, asserts: “We don’t want to compete on a feature-by-feature basis” with traditional CAD tools. Rather, the Sunglass API constitutes a collaboration tool that serves “as the bridge for sharing 3D product design data and for managing version control for engineers and colleagues working across different systems.”

This week we had 49 new APIs added to our API directory including a video sharing service, sentiment analysis of financial Twitter feeds, political opinion poll results, application backend service and sports betting information service. Below are more details on each of these new APIs.

This past week 12 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 16 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include EEA Discomap, Face.com and Wine.com. The most often used APIs this week are Facebook, Twitter and Wine.com. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Mapping (3 APIs, 3 mashups), Social (3 APIs, 7 mashups) and Music (2 APIs, 2 mashups). The list below shows which APIs were used by which mashups:
