Amazon Product AdvertisingAmazon boasts 34 APIs in our directory and it goes without saying that they are a heavy hitter in the API world. In terms of page views and mashups, the clear leader is the Amazon Product Advertising API. Formerly the eCommerce Service, it has over 400 mashups and ranks among our top 15 most visited pages. The mashups we’re looking at today all make use of the Product Advertising API, read below for more details.

16 APIs Used in 7 Days: YouTube, Careerjet, and Bing Maps

This past week 7 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 16 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include Careerjet , D&B Direct, eBay Shopping and Gengo Human Translation. The most often used APIs this week are D&B Direct, Shopping.com and Shopzilla. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Shopping (5 APIs, 5 mashups), Job Search (2 APIs, 2 mashups) and Social (2 APIs, 2 mashups).

E-Commerce covers a broad range of inter-connected processes which eventually leads to a transaction between two or more parties. Recent enhancements in technology, specifically social interactions on the Web, have increased the complexity in analyzing these processes and describing E-Commerce as a whole. And, to be honest, there is a lot of confusion within the terminology of “E-Commerce” itself. The exact definition of E-Commerce varies depending on your source, and you might hear words like e-business, e-retailing, and online shopping all used interchangeably. Mind you, they all have different meanings.
