“The biggest API playground in the world,” API Mashups, has announced its fifth API Mashup Contest. If you have created a mashup and need investors, PR, or mentors; submit your mashup to the contest team by May 31, 2013. The API Mashup team has revamped its webiste, expanded its user and advisory bases, and is excited to review the innovative mashups that are submitted over the next few months.
This week we had 56 new APIs added to our API directory including a data warehouse service, checklist creation service, SMS and MMS messaging service, application development for vehicles platform and health claim transaction information service. We also covered an API that helps streamline fleet management. Below are more details on each of these new APIs.

SEOmoz, a leader in SEO software, has offered link intelligence APIs for a few years (Mozscape being the latest). Although Mozscape has garnered high adoption rates (over 10 million requests/day), customer feedback uncovered shortcomings. SEOmoz now knows that 10 requests/second and a max of 50 URLs/batch “is not able to support everyone’s use case.” Accordingly, SEOmoz enhanced Mozscape API capabilities and is currently in beta. Although the beta is in its early stages, throughput has increased 400%.
Twitter is adding a mobile A/B testing suite to its collection of APIs-turned-employees. The Twitter-derived Klout API is rolling out a new scoring algorithm and site. Plus: Flickr highlights a cam-sharing app, TD Ameritrade API starting to bear fruit and 27 new APIs.
Our API directory now includes 81 analytics APIs. The newest is the Clarabridge API. The most popular by far, in terms of mashups, is the Google Analytics API. We list 49 Google Analytics mashups which is seven times more than the nearest API. Below you’ll find some more stats from the directory, including the entire list of analytics APIs.

SEOmoz recently provided an API to their search engine optimization service, and inevitably comparisons were made to Site Explorer, which is a similar service offered by Yahoo. In a field where stats are king, the 500 links offered by the free SEOmoz service seemed to come up short against the 1000 links offered by Site Explorer. That has now changed, with SEOmoz doubling their volume of data available with their free API.
