MessageMe Succeeds Despite Blatant Facebook Snub

FacebookAs Facebook is one of the major players and MessageMe is a new kid on the block, you would expect that the latter would be intimidated, if not crushed, by any direct attack from the social giant. In this case, it doesn’t seem to be so. Despite Facebook recently cutting off MessageMe’s access to the Facebook Friend Graph, the newcomer has since grown in popularity and managed to raise $1.9 million.

37 APIs Used in 7 Days: Facebook, Google Maps, TypePad and Freebase

This past week 12 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 37 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include 43Things, Cheezburger, Cirip, GitHub, Google Gears, Klout, Netvibes, Plancast, Qwerly, SMSMyBus, Social Archive, TypePad and Vodpod. The most often used APIs this week are Facebook, Google Maps and Spotify Metadata. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Social (7 APIs, 11 mashups), Other (4 APIs, 4 mashups) and Blogging (3 APIs, 3 mashups). The list below shows which APIs were used by which mashups:


27 APIs Used in 7 Days: Adobe, Facebook, Amazon and Yelp

This past week 19 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 27 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include Adobe Social, awe.sm, ChannelAdvisor, Facebook Ads, Gigya, Groupon, Nozbe, Plancast, Rovi Cloud Services and voo2do. The most often used APIs this week are geocoder, Google Maps and Loxcel. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Social (6 APIs, 8 mashups), Shopping (3 APIs, 3 mashups) and Video (3 APIs, 3 mashups). The list below shows which APIs were used by which mashups:


17 New APIs: Twitter Utility, Two Way SMS and Multi-party Video Chat

Already this week we had 17 new APIs added to our API directory including a Twitter utility, mobile tagging service, an SMS messaging service, local deals aggregator, cloud infrastructure management service, journal search service and multi-party video chat service. 55 New APIs: SMS Text Messages, Cloud Email and Location Marketing
