Google quickly ushered its Google Plus Hangouts API out of preview mode, meaning apps built on the service can now be launched. Facebook also made changes to its API, bringing location to photo and status objects. Plus: redefining TV Guide via API, an OpenSocial platform and 17 new APIs.

This week we had 40 new APIs added to our API directory including a social platform service, mobile push notification platform, random quote generator, file sharing and hosting site, digital asset management system, vehicle fleet tracking service, social media analytics platform, Google billing service and three ways to take payments and subscriptions with PayPal. This week we had 75 new APIs added to our API directory including a subscription billing service, an SEO rank monitoring service, an online helpdesk tool, a shopping cart service, a recommendations platform, a lithuanian microblogging service an two Ning-like social network platforms. Yodlee is extending its platform with an SDK and a new marketplace called the FinApp Store. Recently out of beta, the service enables the creation of apps that exist within the Yodlee interface, to be distributed within its partner services.
This week we had 35 new APIs added to our API directory including a tool to geolocate by ip address, spelling correction service, cost per click advertising network, bulk sms messaging service, opensocial service and web page text summarization tool. Below is more detail on each of these new APIs.
This past week 15 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 18 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include billomat, Infosniper.net and mite. The most often used APIs this week are Amazon EC2, Google Maps and GovTrack.us. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Social (3 APIs, 4 mashups), Mapping (3 APIs, 8 mashups) and Search (2 APIs, 2 mashups).
This past week 14 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 32 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include Bing Maps, ChartLyrics Lyric, PDF Generator, Retro Avatar, and Stylight. The most often used APIs this week are Google Chart, Google Homepage, and YouTube.
