YouTubeOur API directory now includes 270 video APIs. The newest is the WorldStream TV API. The most popular, in terms of mashups, is the YouTube API. We list 645 YouTube mashups. Below you’ll find some more stats from the directory, including the entire list of video APIs.


39 APIs Used in 7 Days: Facebook, Flickr and Netflix

This past week 9 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 39 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include 5min, 8tracks, FanSnap, Google Places, Howcast, Movieclips.com, New York Times Movie Reviews, Songkick and VideoSurf. The most often used APIs this week are Facebook, Google Maps and Yelp. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Video (9 APIs, 9 mashups), Shopping (4 APIs, 4 mashups) and Music (4 APIs, 4 mashups). The list below shows which APIs were used by which mashups:

4 New APIs: a Job Search API, a Movies API, a Book Metadata API, and an API for Researchers

As we noted the other day, we’ve seen an increase in the rate of new APIs added to our API directory. Some of the latest entries include a new job search API, an API for accessing book metadata in RDF, a movie clip API (our recent coverage), and an API for researchers in archaeology, museum collections, and other field sciences. Movieclips.comThe self-proclaimed movie freaks behind MovieClips now have a platform that could allow for some really fun mashups. Unfortunately, even the most basic documentation is hidden behind an application form and a promise that “access to the API is granted only to approved partners.”
