This past week 20 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 30 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include Eventbrite and our own ProgrammableWeb API. The most often used APIs this week are Google Maps, Twitter and YouTube. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Search (4 APIs, 4 mashups), Social (4 APIs, 10 mashups) and Shopping (4 APIs, 7 mashups). The list below shows which APIs were used by which mashups:

What do you get when you combine 36 different APIs into 28 different applications? You get this week’s additions to our mashup directory. Some of the less frequently seen APIs include Freebase, Capitol Words, MTV, as well as DigitalBucket. Which API was used most? It was the Twitter API, used in 10 mashups this week. And in yet another example of one API being built on top of another API is the TwitPic API, a Twitter-based service, used in this week’s twipick entry. Spatial data provider Maponics has released a new API that provides developers with access to several boundary data sets. Previously available as a beta release in February, the Maponics Spatial API (our Maponics API profile) provides access to carrier route, ZIP Code and neighborhood data for the United States.
What’s new on the API front? Here are 7 of the latest APIs added to our API directory including our latest weather API, this time from Weather Underground (a total of 6 weather APIs), one political data set via the NY State Legislature API (the latest of 9 NY Times APIs, and the Snipt API for sharing code using short URLs.
