14 APIs Used in 7 Days: Twilio, Google Maps and Bit.ly

This past week 7 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 14 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include Google URL Shortener and LiveConnect. The most often used APIs this week are Bit.ly, Twilio and Twilio SMS. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Mapping (2 APIs, 2 mashups), Music (2 APIs, 2 mashups) and Messaging (2 APIs, 3 mashups). The list below shows which APIs were used by which mashups:


160 Music APIs: Last.fm, SoundCloud and Spotify

Last.fmOur API directory now includes 160 music APIs. The newest is the Spotify Apps API. The most popular, in terms of mashups, is the Last.fm API. We list 206 Last.fm mashups. Below you’ll find some more stats from the directory, including the entire list of music APIs.

Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include Gravatar, Kewego Video, LangId, LyrDB, PriceGrabber, PriceRunner, Social Mention and UPC Database. The most often used APIs this week are Amazon eCommerce, iTunes and iTunes Connect and YouTube. MusixMatchMusic is what connects all of us together. Music Lyrics are one of the most searched items on the Internet and one would expect that the Lyrics data would be accessible via one or more APIs. We list 8 Lyrics APIs in our directory but in the past this has got into trouble over copyright issues. The MusixMatch API wishes to change all of that by giving you access to 5 million officially licensed lyrics.
