This past week 12 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 17 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include #blue, Dribbble, GitHub, Google Reader Subscriber Statistics, Kynetx, Rotten Tomatoes and Stack Overflow. The most often used APIs this week are FanFeedr Sports News, Google Maps and YouTube. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Social (2 APIs, 3 mashups), Video (2 APIs, 4 mashups) and Photos (1 APIs, 1 mashups). The list below shows which APIs were used by which mashups:
Most of our 5800+ Mashups listed in our directory involve a new site being created from one or more other services, usually web sites themselves. The Kynetx API, which has been called Greasemonkey in the cloud, brings mashups into your browser, right where you’re already browsing. The new version of its Chrome extension (coming soon to other browsers) gives users insight into what’s creating the mashup they’re viewing.

Kynetx has released an uber-extension for major browsers that lets developers build add-ons to websites using the Kynetx API. As part of its move to a central extension, Kynetx launched a marketplace to list and discover apps built on top of its platform.
This week we had 29 new APIs added to our API directory including a translation service, event management service, mobile advertising platform, two-way sms service, URL shortener, cloud-based application management service, email marketing service, band and concert search tool and domain registration service.
