Our API directory now includes 945 social APIs. The newest is the SmartBots API. The most popular, in terms of mashups, is the Twitter API. We list [num] Twitter mashups. Below you’ll find some more stats from the directory, including the entire list of social APIs.
This week we had 100 new APIs added to our API directory including a geographic mapping features service, online store and e-commerce product search service, mobile games discovery and marketing service, micro-Apps for Android and iOS and phone conversation management app. In addition we covered an API that helps users stay safe, how to simplify visual communication with Lucidchart, and the Avocado couples app. Below are more details on each of these new APIs.
Guardly is a personal safety service. It instantly connects the user to friends, family and authorities in an emergency. With just one tap of a button on a mobile device, Guardly sends an alert to everyone in a user’s safety network. It can even dial 911 automatically in more serious emergencies, while alerting contacts and sharing the user’s real time location. And, of course, there is also a Guardly API.
Twitter is adding a mobile A/B testing suite to its collection of APIs-turned-employees. The Twitter-derived Klout API is rolling out a new scoring algorithm and site. Plus: Flickr highlights a cam-sharing app, TD Ameritrade API starting to bear fruit and 27 new APIs.
This past week 31 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 17 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include Interfax. The most often used APIs this week are Facebook, Twilio and Twilio SMS. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Shopping (4 APIs, 4 mashups), Social (2 APIs, 11 mashups) and Wiki (1 APIs, 1 mashups). The list below shows which APIs were used by which mashups:
