This week we had 81 new APIs added to our API directory including a file upload to cloud services, digital wallet services, photo uploading and printing application, serviced office accomodations and photo product catalog services. In addition we also looked at whether developers will ante up for a gambling API. Below are more details on each of these new APIs.
Google has some big changes for its database-like Google Fusion Tables API. Conference agenda site Lanyrd is using the foursquare API to make event check-ins more useful. Plus: PadMapper finds a Craigslist API, ESRI buys a mapping startup and 21 new APIs.

Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include Acapela, APIfy, AuthorityLabs Account, AuthorityLabs Partner, Boxcar, Buffer, Diigo, Google Sites , Gravatar, Instapaper, Pinboard, Plurk, Pocket, Posterous, Readability , Scoop.it, Svpply, Weather Central, WordPress.com, Yammer and Zootool. The most often used APIs this week are Last.fm, Twitter and YouTube. Gravatar is an attempt to allow users to have one globally recognized avatar. The service, around for several years, allows a user can set an image as an avatar and have it recognized on a variety of sites. Later, users can change an avatar once and have it change on every Gravatar-enabled site that they use. Though the service is somewhat well known, what is not is its robust API for developers to integrate the Gravatar service into their own sites.
This week we had 18 new APIs added to our API directory including a speech recognition service, dining deals search service, email marketing service, album cover archive, online avatar service, temporary email service, social reading record, image manipulation service, SMS group message service and semantic text analysis service. Everyone has an email address. And it seems everybody is on Facebook or Twitter. Can you start with an email address and end up with the user’s photo from one of those social web services? According to two hackers at The Next Web Hackathon, you most definitely can. Email to X won first place, which came with over $3,500 of Amazon Web Services credits. And it turns out the hack, which doesn’t always use official APIs, may put those credits to good use.
