An upcoming PDF Liberation Hackathon is aimed at raising developers’ skills in unlocking data from PDF sources. The hackathon will be held onsite in Washington D.C. and in San Francisco on Jan. 17 – 19, 2014, while international developers can also compete remotely. Last year’s overall winner became the largest mashup acquisition ever when it was gobbled up by Apple a month later. Who will be the winner this year? Chances look good that it will have an API. This week we had 54 new APIs added to our API directory including a speech recognition service, business instant messaging software, blogging platform, event listing service and URL shortening.
