Of the many APIs we published this week, fourteen were highlighted on the blog by our team of writers. In this post, we’ll shine a spotlight on those fourteen, which included the Stamps.com API. The Decibel API allows website developers to create code integrated with this content management system company, customize Decibel, create an app, and plug it into their code with Decibel’s Open API. Decibel is PCI DSS 2.o compliant for security reasons and its framework is highly structured. Full documentation is not publicly available, but Decibel’s tools can develop websites, extranets, intranets and business applications on the web.
This week we had 54 new APIs added to our API directory including a voice and SMS communications for apps, email and file migration service, in app SMS messaging service, html5 video player, twitter influence measurement service. Deezer announced a new set of APIs and the accompanying “app Studio”. Amazon takes its Maps API from public beta to full release. Plus: LinkedIn launches Ads API, enabling custom tools for large-scale campaigns, VStorage API support focus of Symantec-Veeam battle and 20 new APIs.
Netflix adds Hystrix to its open source AWS Management toolkit. German Newspaper ZEIT releases API. Plus: SaaS and APIs have disrupted the Enterprise Applications landscape, Gartner on Best Buy’s digital edge in retail and 23 new APIs.
Decibel launched its first API in 2011. Since the launch, Decibel has enjoyed success in becoming the fastest growing European company in the digital music sector. However, the massive growth falls short of Decibel’s ultimate goal. Decibel hopes to enhance the consumer relationship with digital music and uncover the next generation in digital music services. In the end, Decibel aims “to become the industry standard for music metadata.”
Our API directory now includes 160 music APIs. The newest is the Spotify Apps API. The most popular, in terms of mashups, is the Last.fm API. We list 206 Last.fm mashups. Below you’ll find some more stats from the directory, including the entire list of music APIs.
This week we had 41 new APIs added to our API directory including a digital watermarking service, link bookmarking service, blogging service, movie information and reviews database, spelling correction service, helpdesk service and rss feed reader.

Decibel pitches itself as a leader in the music metadata space by citing a deeper and more accurate dataset than its competitors. The slick video (embedded below) on its site is quite convincing. Decibel claims to collect music metadata from all sources all over the world, including record labels and users, check it for accuracy, and compile it into the database. It’s ambitions are set high with the goal of creating an industry standard in music metadata, and why not? Someone’s got to do it!
