Open SpreetyThe Open Spreety API sticks a TV and a TV guide in your program. According to the API webpage, you can have users search for shows by title, genre, and by the decade the show was produced, among other criteria. Despite all the pay walls and cable costs, Open Spreety says there is so much free content out there from  the mainstream media that viewers can get lost in the forest of choices.


Maluuba Introduces Natural Language Understanding API, Bringing Voice Recognition Technology to Third-Party Apps

Maluuba Natural LanguageMaluuba is a company that has created a patent-pending, voice recognition and language engine. According to Crunchbase, Samsung Ventures funded $2 million to Maluuba in February 2012, and the Maluuba language engine “is a product of two years of advanced research in artificial intelligence, machine learning and linguistics.” Yesterday, Maluuba announced the introduction of a preview alpha release of what the company describes as the “first of its kind” natural language understanding API (nAPI).

Loggly Announces Double-Down Investment Round

LogglyLoggly has just secured a new round of funding for its event-logging Loggly API. The company added $5.7 million which more than doubles the $4.7 million total from series A & B investment rounds.  This round introduces a new investment partner, Matrix Ventures, as well as a new CEO Charlie Oppenheimer and CTO Jim Nisbet.  Oppenheimer hails from Matrix Ventures where he served as an executive in residence.

Civic Commons Marketplace Gets an API

Civic Commons MarketplaceCivic Commons, a non-profit initiative that aims to help cities and local governments harness the power of shared technologies and adapt to a more collaborative software development methodology, recently released an app store for civic technology called the Civic Commons Marketplace.
