Our API directory now includes 453 search APIs. The newest is the Automatton Instant Answers API. The most popular, in terms of mashups, is the eBay API. We list 220 eBay mashups. Below you’ll find some more stats from the directory, including the entire list of search APIs.
Developers are often finding themselves as API providers in addition to consumers. The same is now true for me with my project, BuildaSearch. I recently released a BuildaSearch API for deeper site search integration, moving away from a more plug-and-play approach I took earlier on.
Blekko is a search engine which uses both algorithms and human interaction for producing high quality search results. Currently serving more than 3 billion pages, Blekko sorts through spam, content farms, and sites containing malware in order to offer only real information to the end-user.
Shoutcast maintains a radio directory of 50,000+ radio stations from all around the world. The company, owned by AOL, released its first Shoutcast API a few years ago, but has since released version 2.0. The updated API provides developers with more advanced options for integrating music streaming services into web services and mobile applications using RESTful calls formatted in XML, JSON and RSS.
Earlier this week we reported on 7 new APIs added to our directory, and by today another 7 have been more added, bringing the total for the week to 14 new APIs. This latest set of web services includes a Twitter photo service, real estate question and answers, semantic web page categorization, and online maps.
