This past week 6 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 9 different APIs were used to build them. and ome of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include Evernote. The most often used APIs this week are Bing Translator, Forvo and indeed. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Shopping (2 APIs, 2 mashups), Utility (2 APIs, 2 mashups) and Mapping (1 APIs, 1 mashups). The list below shows which APIs were used by which mashups:

Forget that question for the moment and concentrate on something more important. Zoobank, the world’s official registry of Zoological Nomenclature, has released the Zoobank API.
Vizrt (pronounced Viz-R-Tee, short for Vizualization in Real Time), has a series of Javascript and RESTful APIs that provides access to Vizrt’s Escenic Content Engine for media/broadcast organizations. The REST APIs allow developers to use the Esconic platform in PHP and .NET, among other programming languages.
Tired of American TV? Tired of TV in English? Escape to Viki, the leading global TV and movie network, which provides videos with crowd sourced translations in 150 languages. The Viki API allows your users to browse more than 10,000 videos by genre, country, and language, plus search across the entire database. They have over 1 billion views. The API uses OAuth2.0 authentication, REST, with responses in either JSON or XML.
There is a bold new version of the Box.net API, as the enterprise-focused file sharing company iterates on its platform. The CastingWords API allows you to put their 100% human transcription service into your company’s workflow. The API’s technical webpage describes the API as “RESTish,” with responses returned in a variety of formats. The site states that, “The goal is not to follow REST’s practices closely, but rather to make an easy API to get up to speed with using a dynamic language or curl.
This week we had 81 new APIs added to our API directory including a Google Apps reseller account management service, iPad point-of-sale service, photo manipulation service, customer feedback service and a customer loyalty program service. We also covered three APIs for beating CAPTCHAs and reviewed the DynaMed clinical reference API. Below are more details on each of these new APIs.
