338 Shopping APIs: Cupónica, Amazon and eBay

eBayOur API directory now includes 338 shopping APIs. The newest is the Cupónica. The most popular, in terms of mashups, is the Amazon eCommerce. We list 413 Amazon eCommerce mashups. Below you’ll find some more stats from the directory, including the entire list of shopping APIs.


20 APIs Used in 7 Days: Facebook, Foursquare, Tropo, Twitter and Wikipedia

This past week 16 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 20 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include AvantLink and Big Huge Thesaurus. The most often used APIs this week are Facebook, Google Maps and Tropo. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Social (4 APIs, 9 mashups), Mapping (3 APIs, 6 mashups) and Shopping (2 APIs, 3 mashups). The list below shows which APIs were used by which mashups:

eBayThough a few shopping APIs are some of the earliest examples we have, their popularity has continued to grow for a simple reason: there’s an obvious revenue model tied to them. When developers use one of the 82 Shopping APIs in our directory, that can mean money in the pocket of the API provider. And, by virtue of various affiliate and revenue-sharing programs tied to many of these APIs, it can also mean money in the pocket of the developer.
