Our API directory now includes 92 APIs. The newest is the EasyPost API. The most popular, in terms of mashups, is the FedEx API. We list 19 FedEx mashups. Below you’ll find some more stats from the directory, including the entire list of shipping APIs.
Of the many APIs we published this week, twelve were highlighted on the blog by our team of writers. In this post, we’ll shine a spotlight on those twelve, which include the SongMeanings API. SongMeanings is a social entertainment platform that allows users to follow their favorite artist and search/ debate the underlying lyrical meaning of songs. The site boasts over 1,800,000 licensed tracks, all of which encourage their users to contribute any lyrics the site does not have. The SongMeanings API makes the database accessible to developers who can retrieve song meanings by song ID numbers. To learn more about the SongMeanings API visit the SongMeanings site as well as the SongMeanings API blog post.
Great customer service has long been a competitive advantage for any business. But for online merchants, that can take up valuable extra time, as customers wonder where their packages are. Amazon’s massive online retail business has done many things, such as famously upended the book industry. It’s also changed customer expectations–free shipping (or shipping by subscription), fast delivery, giving customers the ability to track with a click of a button. It puts the mom-and-pop online stores–and many other large operations–at a disadvantage. Aftership provides the Aftership API to help level the playing field.
This week we had 50 new APIs added to our API directory including a mobile application advertising and monetization service, a webrtc video and audio services, a shipment tracking and notification service, an indoor mapping and commerce platform, a mobile application backend service, an unofficial transformice leaderboard and an online store for custom device covers. We also covered an API that changes the way payment processing works. Below are more details on each of these new APIs.
