Google Announces Cloud Developer Challenge Winners

Google Cloud Developer Challenge 2013, a contest that invited Developers to build applications on the Google Cloud Platform has announced the contest winners after an intense period of evaluation. The contest opened for submission in September and semi-finalists were announced in early December. The semi-finalists were given a month to further develop their applications and a final round of evaluation declared 12 winners, across 6 geographical regions in the world, two winners per region. Applications were required to run on App Engine and utilize Google’s APIs like You Tube, Google + and others in innovative ways.

The stats for the contest are amazing:

A few of the winning submissions are listed below:

  • Grow, a modern static site generator and content management system that is designed for the cloud. Check out the motivation that led to this application.
  • HealthMate, an application for patients and doctors to manage their prescriptions and appointments.
  • Tourbly, that connects tourists with reliable guides.

Each of the winners received a cash prize of $20,000 and the recognition is likely to help the winning teams take their application to the next level. Check out the complete list of winners, along with links to their applications on the Winners page along with a video.
