API Powers Fantasy Football Apps

Eric Carter, October 23rd, 2013

FantasyData, NFL statistical data provider, offers the FantasyData NFL API. The API gives developers access to NFL data (e.g. team stats, live scores, season information, box scores, and more). The API targets web and mobile app owners who develop apps for the fantasy football market. Many of the most popular fantasy football apps have already integrated with FantasyData’s APIs.

Scott Gimpel founded in 2007 after his personal frustration finding reliable, affordable, accessible pro football data. Within a year, FantasyData had booked a customer. As the fantasy football market has ballooned into a $70 billion market, FantasyData has enjoyed more and more customer pickup. With leading apps like iPick Football and  FantasyOmatic integrating the API, FantasyData has cemented itself as a go to source for NFL statistics.

The NFL Data API uses REST protocol and returns data in a XML or JSON data format. FantasyData offers a series of APIs under the NFL Data API umbrella (i.e. Free Trial API, Developer API, Standard API, Premium API, and Enterprise API). Depending on development or statistical needs, the breadth of data available under this suite is bound to satisfy the NFL data hungry. For more information, check out the Developer Portal.

In a world where fantasy sports have become a multi-billion dollar industry, and the world’s most famous statistician has moved from predicting political elections to sports outcomes, FantasyData was ahead of the curve and continues to foster a growing ecosystem of fantasy football apps.
