Now Calling All Devs To Google Cloud Developer Challenge

Google has thrown open one of its largest developer challenge inviting developers to showcase their solutions based on Google Cloud products. The Google Cloud Developer Challenge is open across 6 regions in the world and offers prizes both to winners and mentors, who will aid the participants create solutions.

The contest is now open and the submission window available from October 22 to November 21. You can submit your entries in the following categories:

  • Enterprise/Small Business Solutions , Education, Not for Profit
  • Social / Personal Productivity/Games / Fun

The criteria for qualifying is clearly laid out in the rules and it includes hosting the application with an appspot.com domain, relevance to a geographic region, availability on multiple devices and innovative usage of as many Google APIs as possible e.g. YouTube API.

A winner will be chosen in each category for each region, a total of 12 winners in the contest. Each winner stands to win $20,000 in cash, in addition to Android devices. There are also special incentives available for student teams and an individual or team comprising only of women.

Google is also encouraging mentors to participate and help developers with their knowledge of Google Cloud Platform products. Each mentor from a region stands to win an all expense paid trip to a major developer conference anywhere in the world to the tune of $5,000.
