Kwikee, a collector and provider of product information, wants to make sure what your are reading is accurate. In that vein, the company has released an API for e-commerce developers who need information on consumer products.
The Kwikee API provides developers with an accurate source of product information and images from the thousands of brands who pay for their product content to be in Kwikee’s database.
Kwikee product manager Randy Burd said it is critical consumers are presented with accurate product information, especially when they have dietary restrictions.
“Consumers actively research nutrition information, allergens and ingredients online and on their mobile devices, and there is concern that some information is either inaccurate or out-of-date,” he added.
The product information in Kwikee helps consumers research the product information they need to make educated decisions about food, beverage, health and beauty, and personal care products.
Kwikee, a divistion of MultiAd, works with brand owners such as Coca-Cola, Kraft Foods, Unilever, L’Oreal and ConAgra to collect and aggregate product information that is found on recent versions of product packaging.
Kwikee develops, manages and distributes product images, data and related content that are approved by manufacturers. Since the company’s product information is funded by brand owners, the Kwikee API free of charge to most developers.
