Grabyo recently opened its doors as a TV clip sharing service. Alongside its go to market lies the Grabyo API that allows developers to integrate Grabyo functionality with third party apps and sites. Grabyo describes itself as “the ultimate second screen experience.” Users can grab a moment of watched TV and share it across social media networks. Grabyo founder and CEO, Will Neale, explained:
“Not only are we helping broadcasters to drive social buzz around their shows, but we are also enabling them to generate incremental ad revenues – by giving brands the opportunity to extend TV sponsorship into social media. This is very attractive to both broadcasters and brand sponsors.”
Britain & Ireland’s Next Top Model signed up as Grabyo’s first television partner. The show recently debuted and is still looking to create buzz and grow its viewer base. Grabyo’s platform presents an ideal platform for such goals as Next Top Model can expand its revenue stream with its existing viewership. Grabyo continues to converse with additional broadcasters and plans to make new partnership announcements soon.
Public documentation for the Grabyo API is not currently available. Users can clip 20 second snippets of TV in realtime, comment on the clip, and share the clip across Twitter and Facebook. Those interested in learning more should visit the about site and contact the Grabyo team.
All too often, the web serves as a piracy vehicle for television shows. Grabyo offers a unique option for broadcasters to increase revenues, increase viewership, and broaden its marketing reach through viewers. Continue to look for Grabyo to expand its television partners and pop up around the social mediasphere.
