Best New Mashups: Week in Review Featuring Bing Maps, Deezer and Cicero

Bing MapsWith the weekend coming up let’s take a look back at the mashups that were added to the ProgrammableWeb mashup directory over the last couple of weeks. We’ll cover mashups that include a tool for local discovery, a jukebox for your phone, a political social network and an app showing real time statuses of DC metro lines. Read below for more details on each. – This mashup is an app that helps users discover new adventures or vacations through photography from some of the best photographers in the world. APIs used include: Bing Maps. More at our profile. – Playbeats is a Jukebox running on smartphones using the Deezer API. The app allows pubs, festivals, private parties or other musical events to have better and more social tracklists selected by users. APIs used include: Deezer. More at our profile.

electedface – Electedface is a social network for politicking. It allows visitors to connect with and search for elected officials and candidates in their geo-political district. The project has a robust PHP-based back-end engine that utilizes a number of APIs and combines multi-media, factual and user- and community-generated data from multiple sources. Next DC Metro – This app shows real time statuses of all the metro lines in the Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland. This app has the following features. 1.Detects the nearer stations automatically from current position and shows the statuses of all the applicable metro line for a station that you prefer. 2.You can also select another station based on the available lines (Red, Blue, Orange, Green and Yellow) and view the station status. 3.Different Station entrance information. 4.Outages (if any) for that particular station. 5.Special alerts (if any) from WMATA for a metro line or a metro station or in general. 6.Real time news about Metros.
