Close on the heels of Intel buying Mashery, comes the news that another API Management vendor has been acquired. Layer 7, a provider of API Management and Security services for cloud and on-premise has been acquired by CA Technologies. The press release states that the acquisition of Layer 7 will enable CA Technologies to manage and secure the API marketplace with leading technology that complements its current Identity and Access Management suite.
Spotbros, the popular messaging application has launched its API to extend the reach of its platform beyond just users communicating with each other. The API enables developers to create applications dubbed SBApps that the users can interact with via the familiar messaging interface. Since its launch over a year ago, Spotbros currently has 2 million registered users sending 2 million messages per day and more than 70% of its users are based in Spain. Today we had 20 new APIs added to our API directory including a standardized healthcare code reference service, a minecraft plugin repository access service, an auto insurance policy and claims information service, a crowdsourced online task assistance service, an ip address location database, an iban calculation and validation service and a nigerian bulk sms service. Aqua.io API: Aqua.io helps people comply with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), an act which establishes national standards for electronic health care transactions as well as identifiers for providers, health insurance plans, and employers. Aqua.io allows users to retrieve names and explanations for standardized identification codes. It also provides Wikipedia links for ICD codes and two-way ICD9/10 equivalency mapping. TF2 Backpack Explorer API: TF2 (Team Fortress 2) is an online, team-based, multiplayer first-person shooter game developed by Valve. In TF2, the backpack is a player's personal inventory which stores all in-game items. Items are kept in individual slots and can be viewed, moved, or deleted.
