Yummly Launches API for Developers to Create Innovative Food and Recipe Apps

YummlyYummly, a fast growing food website and recipe search platform, has announced the launch of the Yummly API which allows developers to incorporate recipe data and search functionality into third-party applications and websites.

The Yummly API provides developers access to over 1 million recipes, over 100k food classifications and over 10 billion recipe data points as well as recipe/food search functionality.

Search engine DuckDuckGo is already using the Yummly API for recipe and food-related instant answers. Founder and CEO of DuckDuckGo, Gabriel Weinberg, is quoted in the press release about working with Yummly:

“As a general purpose search engine, DuckDuckGo is excited to work with Yummly to provide our users with excellent recipe and food-related instant answers. Yummly’s semantic search technology provides direct links to relevant and compelling food and recipe results for our users, making for a great recipe search user experience on DuckDuckGo.”

In the press release, Yummly offers website and third-party application developers suggestions for potential uses of the Yummly API such as weight loss tracking, allergy information, shopping information, food branding, social apps and much more.
