The Vizrt Escenic API: The Next Step in Keeping Major Content Providers Content

Greg Bates, February 26th, 2013

Vizrt Escenic Content EngineVizrt (pronounced Viz-R-Tee, short for Vizualization in Real Time), has a series of Javascript and RESTful APIs that provides access to Vizrt’s Escenic Content Engine for media/broadcast organizations. The REST APIs allow developers to use the Esconic platform in PHP and .NET, among other programming languages.

Headquartered in Norway with some 33 offices around the world, including 3 in the US, and customers in 100 countries, Vizrt’s suite of applications manages news and content generation from in the field all the way up to business design in the board room. Digital media libraries are easily searched; reporting in the field on mobile devices gets back to the office fast; template systems add the graphics; studio tools add visuals and graphics with native ipad app while broadcasting with vizanchor; and the content is all transcoded for many different devices, from laptops to tablets to phones. The system further helps the editor in chief to monitor the business and identify new income streams and ways to save money.

Its client list suggests its value: CNN, CBS, Fox, the BBC, BSkyB, ITN, ZDF, Star TV, Network 18, TV Today, CCTV, NHK, The Globe and Mail, Times Online, The Telegraph, and Welt Online, among others.
