The Valutec API: Loyalty and Gift Cards on Plastic and Ecards

Greg Bates, February 14th, 2013

ValutecValutec Card Solutions provides loyalty, rewards and gift cards for specialty retail, restaurant, spa/beauty salon, hospitality, and other merchants to sell to customers. The Valutec API allows merchants to load the cards with balances, activate previously issued cards, and charge purchase to the cards. In addition, methods support ecard versions. The API provides both SOAP and HTTP GET interfaces.

To give a hands on feel to several programs and products, Valutec provides customizable cards, offering a form to choose and create your own cards, see my choice below, done in less than 3 minutes.

Cards translate into more than convenience, explains Phillip Gould, owner of Gould’s Day Spa & Salon, “Valutec helped develop and grow a program that didn’t exist before. Once we made the switch from paper gift certificates to plastic gift cards, our sales took off dramatically.”

To run programs properly takes some effort, to which Valutec supplies a dedicated customer service team to make everything run smoothly. It also requires strong partners, such as experts in secure payment technologies. Valutec has partnered with Verifone to make this possible. It has also partnered with point of sale expert Halo, among others.
