The Backupify Platform makes it possible for users of separate, stand-alone SaaS applications to perform data backup, restore and other data protection functions from a central location. The platform also offers Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) of cloud applications the ability to provide their customers data protection and security.
The Backupify API and Developer Program is in private beta status and five initial partners (Apptivo, Mavenlink, Nimble, Freshdesk, and Pipeline Deals) have been working with Backupify to help finalize the API requirements. These initial ISV partner integrations as well as the API will be available in Q2 2013.
In the press release, Rob May, CEO of Backupify briefly explains why the company created a developer platform:
“Our experience in backup and recovery solutions for Google Apps and Salesforce customers has taught us that there is tremendous demand in the market for independent data protection for all SaaS applications. Customers and ISVs have approached us over the years to support their SaaS applications, which led us to create the developer platform. We’re excited to work with leading ISVs on the initial integrations.”
Per the Backupify blog, the company will be announcing other details and news about the developer program in the upcoming days and weeks.
Jon Ferrara, CEO and co-founder of Nimble is quoted in the press release as saying:
“Backupify and ISVs such as Nimble are leading the way in helping companies overcome their cloud data protection concerns. The ability for SaaS solutions to integrate with one another quickly and securely is not only shaping the future of CRM, but the cloud in general.”
