iOS Contest: Magplus Announces $20K in App Development Prizes

Greg Bates, January 29th, 2013

MagPlusHaving just released an API, Magplus is now announcing the “Unleash the Content, Build Your Dream App,” contest, Feb 8 to 22.

Magplus has been actively helping companies in publishing, retail, gaming and enterprise. According to Programmableweb’s own Candace McMillan,

“MagPlus is based on an InDesign plugin. Users simply design the desired content in InDesign using the MagPlus plugin, then add the online content, interactivity, audio, video and animation they require. The MagPlus Feature Builder also allows users to build HTML elements without having to write any code.”

Building an ecosystem for tablet publishing, the plugin allows publishers to make their content touch friendly. The video shows a remarkable range of what can be accomplished.

As the press release reports,

“The ”Unleash the Content, Build Your Dream App,” contest makes available Mag+’s new iOS App Software Developent Kit(SDK) to developers worldwide on a non-commercial license to allow them to re-imagine the platform’s reader app. More than $20,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded to three innovative apps built with the SDK. Registration for the contest opens today, and the development window for the contest runs from Feb. 8 to Feb. 22 at midnight EST.”

To register, access the SDK and build your entry, you’ll  need a GitHub account and username to register. The all-important contest rules show how you can win the prizes:

  • First prize: $2,500 cash and a six-month commercial license for the SDK, a $21,000 value.
