Foursquare has announced that the Foursquare Global Hackathon will take place on January 5th, 2013 where developers and designers will have the opportunity to win great prizes for building the best, most innovative hacks using the Foursquare API.

The Hackathon will be happening in 28 communities worldwide and Foursquare will be hosting hackers at their headquarters in New York City and San Francisco. At this time, 1,007 developers in 166 cities participate in Foursquare API Meetups and hackathons around the world.
The Rules for the Foursquare Global Hackathon can be found on Foursquare’s Hackathon page on HackerLeague.org. Hacks must be submitted to the voting site by the end of Sunday, January 6th (your local time zone).
