StackMob, a leading cloud-based, mobile Platform as a Service (PaaS) provider, has just announced the launch of the StackMob Marketplace, a developer-ready API modules online store. In addition, StackMob is now offering a new pricing model that offers free StackMob API calls to developers. The new pricing structure is based on features used and not the number of API requests made by third-party applications.

The StackMob Marketplace offers API modules created by StackMob as well as their technology partners. The starting cost is FREE for many of the modules offered in the StackMob Marketplace, some modules charge monthly fees for their use. The StackMob Marketplace briefly explains what modules are:
“Modules can save you even more development time by making it easy to install best-of-breed services and features into your app.”
StackMob has created a brand new pricing structure that charges developers and API users for individual services and not for API transactions. In the announcement, Ty Amell, CEO of StackMob comments about API transaction fees:
“API transactions are now a commodity, and developers are becoming more dissatisfied with these kinds of transaction-based fees. They don’t want to face a ‘success tax’ when their apps take off. With our new pricing, StackMob is leading the way in making cloud services a more viable approach for mobile app development.”
Developers interested in using the StackMob API can get started at the StackMob Developer Site.
