Prosperent (quickly growing ad network) and CloudFlare (content delivery network focused on low touch app launches) have announced a partnership aimed at quickly monetizing websites without complicated development work. The partnership is simple, seems obvious, and should intrigue developers across many markets. Most importantly, the partnership should create new ways for anybody/any company with an online presence to make money. Check out the PW profiles for the Prosperent API and the CloudFlare API.
In a nutshell, the joint offering allows developers to leverage CloudFlare’s dynamic app integration with Prosperent’s simple monetizing product (ProsperLinks). ProgrammableWeb spoke with Prosperent CEO, Brian Lovett, for a better understanding of the partnership. Lovett presented the possible use of the partnership with regards to a blog dedicated to soccer. ProsperLinks now exists as an App in CloudFlare’s App marketplace. The soccer blogger simply launches the ProsperLinks App in the marketplace with a single click. The functionality underlying ProsperLinks then searches the soccer blog’s content for products (e.g. shoes, shorts, gear, etc.). The underlying functionality of ProsperLinks automatically creates an affiliate link for the chosen product. Accordingly, if a product mentioned in the blog is purchased through a Prosperent partner retailer, the blogger makes money off the sale.
Prosperent’s ProsperLinks pull from an online merchant base of more than 3,000 retailers (e.g. Zappos, Overstock.com, REI, etc.) and can generate affiliate links for over 50 million products. Prosperent has simplified affiliate marketing and removes the typical development work out of monetizing a website. Lovett further explained Prosperents goal: to help online content providers make money while “mak[ing] developers lives easier.” This partnership furthers Prosperent’s end goal.
