The HeiaHeia API: Social and Simple

HeiaHeiaSoon after HeiaHeia was founded by Olli Oksanen, Jussi Räisänen and Ivan Kuznetsov, the company became a hit in its home country of Finland. Boasting more than 175,000 users in Finland alone, this social workout forum has shown how powerful making things social and simple really is. The HeiaHeia platform allows users to track workouts ranging from over 400 different activities and share their accomplishments with other users. The Company has released the HeiaHeia API which will make it easier for business’ to integrate HeiaHeia into their workflow.

HeiaHeia goes beyond person workout tracking and extends focus into the corporate world. The company has a “Workplace Edition” designed specifically for business customers. The HeiaHeia website had this to say:

“For those responsible for employee wellness, HeiaHeia is an easy-to-use and versatile service that encourages everyone throughout the organisation to exercise. Users can follow their progress in real-time thanks to our advanced statistics feature.”

The HeiaHeia API is a RESTful API and returns data formatted in XML. This API is one of 94 sports APIs featured in the ProgrammableWeb directory.
