Google and Others Return for API Mashup Contest

Romin Irani, April 19th, 2012

The API Mashup Contest is back in its 3rd version. The API Mashup contest invites Developers to submit applications that use publicly available APIs to augment their application functionality. The contest has been growing in popularity and its two previous editions received encouraging response with the winning applications receiving mentorship from leading VCs in Europe.

This 3rd edition continues with the same format as the earlier editions and developers will need to submit their applications by May 31. The contest has received solid backing from Google, whose APIs have been the most frequently used by developers in the submissions. The new edition also sees GTUG.cz, a member of Google Techology User Groups (GTUG) in addition to Apiary, Q-Sensei, Nexmo and MyGengo.

The winning submissions stand to win an Amazon Kindle Fire along with bundle of services, worth $5K for their startup. The best projects will receive further help, including mentoring and links to angel investors, and the contest is open to all developers from all over the world. The winners will be announced in mid-June.

The last edition of API Mashup Contest saw more than 70+ entries from more than 30 countries. The winning application was Suitts Me, a social shopping network.
