Box.Net is on a mission to increase adoption of its file storage service with consumers. After successful adoption of its service with enterprise customers, it is clearly determined to woo mobile device owners by providing them with large amounts of free space (50GB!). To make it easier, it is partnering with device manufacturers like LG to provide the free space seamlessly via the Box.net API.
In October, Box.Net offered 50GB of storage space to all iOS device owners. All they had to do was download the latest version of the Box.Net mobile application on their iPhone/iPad and login or sign up for a Box account. The same offer has now moved on to the Android platform for all owners of LG devices.
So if you have a LG manufactured Android device (phones and tablets) running Android OS version 2.1 and above, you can get 50GB of free space in your Box.Net account. If you have an existing Box account, all you need to do is log into Box for Android between now and March 31, 2012. If you do not have a Box account, make sure you download the latest version of the Box application on your LG Phone or Tablet.
To coincide with this announcement, Box.Net for Android has also had a makeover with some key features that merge the convenience of extra space with using it while you are on the move. The features include:
The offer is currently open to users that own an LG Android device. Currently a similar promotion is in place for owners of iOS devices, but it seems that Box will roll this out to other Manufacturers of Android devices too to garner a significant share.
