API Mashup Contest Looking for Central Europe Ideas

Romin Irani, September 21st, 2011

The API space is getting interesting with opportunities now opening up for developers to pitch their ideas for API mashups and converting that into a business. If you are a software developer living in Central Europe or Germany and having an idea or working prototype of a mashup, you have a great opportunity to turn that into a viable business. Yes, the API Mashup contest is back and bigger than before.

The API Mashup Contest is now inviting applications for API Mashup ideas. It is a great chance for budding entrepreneurs to test out their ideas and get them validated. The previous contest was held at Prague in June of this year and it threw up some interesting ideas (PDF), including Collabim, an SEO tracking service.

The latest contest also sees support from Google, which has signed up as one of the Partners of the Event. Mashup API Contest founder, Pavel Curda said “I’m happy that Google is loving  the Contest and has become our partner. Google’s APIs are simply loved by developers because they provide added high value  and are easy to use and apply.” Other partners include apiary.io and Deutsche Startups.

The deadline to submit your ideas is November 30 and the winners will be announced on December 10. The jury consists of seasoned web entrepreneurs who will guide the winners during the early phase of their projects and helping them in all aspects of turning the idea into a business.
